One of our most frequently asked questions, or I should say groups of questions involve drinks on the river. “ What drinks do you provide? Will they be cold? Can I bring my own?” Well this blog is here to answer all your drink questions!
What drinks do you provide? We provide water at all times, along with either lemonade or gatorade. These will be available in water coolers that will be accessible while on the boat during the day and at camp in the morning and at night. We also provide coffee, milk, juice, and hot water for tea in the morning with breakfast.
Can I bring my own drinks? Yes of course! We encourage you to bring whatever drinks you may want during your trip. Love diet coke, spindrift, ice tea, bring it! Whatever you want to drink you can bring. We just recommend that it be in cans or plastic bottles so that they are easier to pack on the boat and less likely to break.
Can I bring alcohol? Yes you can. Just like with your nonalcoholic drinks we recommend you bring it in cans or plastic bottles, but if you have a glass bottle of liquor we have a special place on the boat we can store it to make sure it won’t get broken.
How many drinks should I bring? This is really a personal choice, but we recommend as many as you want to drink each day plus a couple extra just in case. For example, think you may want to drink 4 spindrifts a day, then you may want to bring four eight packs, that way you’ll have enough for each day plus a little extra. Also take into account that if you plan on sharing, you may want even more.
How do you keep my drinks cold? We use what are called drag bags. These are mesh bags that you put your drinks in that are then attached to the side of the boat and placed in the water. This is another reason why it is so important to make sure your drinks are in cans or plastic bottles. Every morning at camp you’ll grab whatever drinks you want for the day from the duffel pile before it is sealed up for the rest of the day and put them in the drag bags. We also recommend that you label your drinks so you can tell what is yours when searching through the drink pile on the boat.

How do I get my drinks to the start of the trip if I am not driving there? If you are taking a shuttle to Lee’s Ferry to meet us for the trip and can’t bring your drinks with you, then you can place an order with Cliff Dweller’s lodge where you will spend the night before your trip. Just fill out an order form and submit it to them to fill, then on the morning of your trip launch your drink order will be out front ready for you to pick up and load on your trip!
