Today marks the last launch of our 2015 river season. There won’t be another Hatch River Expeditions boat parked at the gravely shore at Lees Ferry until April. Soon, the last helicopter will fly out of Whitmore Wash and Hatch boats and guides and guests will be off the river completely and returning to their fall and winter lives.

For some of our guides, this means working with winter outdoor enthusiasts at ski resorts. For others, it means returning to classrooms to teach and to learn. For others still, it means bunkering down in the Hatch Warehouse for "winter work."

Hatch River Expeditions Warehouse

Straight through to December, Hatch employees will be busy taking each boat apart piece by piece and inspecting it for wear. Damaged parts will be repaired or replaced, and every raft will be repainted and looking like new by next season.

All the Hatch vehicles will be detailed until they shine, and the Warehouse itself will get a thorough cleaning as well.

And all winter long, we’ll dream of the river.

If you’re already dreaming about your 2016 or 2017 trip with Hatch River Expeditions, the office will be open all winter long for you to reserve your space. 2016 is filling up fast, and booking for 2017 will begin in February (but you can put your name on a waitlist now if you can’t wait that long!)

We look forward to seeing you on the river next year!
