What better way to begin a Grand Canyon whitewater expedition than to descend below the depths of the Canyon walls via the Bright Angel Trail? Such a voyage begins at the South Rim of Grand Canyon – the hub of Canyon related activities.
Lower Canyon – 4 Day Motorized or 7 Day Oar Powered
Rafting the Grand Canyon on this trip commences with a 9.5 mile hike via the Bright Angel Trail. The descent will offer an elevation loss of over 4000 feet and is no easy trek. Guests must be in excellent physical condition to complete this hike as it is the only way into the Canyon for these particular rafting trips. Hatch River Expeditions recommends booking lodging at the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village for the evening before the hike. The hike begins at 5 AM sharp, so be prepared to hike at least 15 minutes prior to.
Hikers meet up with the boats on this first day and have three days of whitewater rafting fun. At the end of the trip, Hatch River Expeditions’ guides can either fly you back to the South Rim or to Las Vegas dependent on your transportation choices.
